Amelia Earhart Typed Letter Signed "A.E." This 8" x 10.25" typed letter is from the public relations department of the United States Air Force. It is on Air Force stationery with the Headquarters First Wing letterhead, signed in the manner she was known to her close friends, "AE". Earhart's reply on August 5, 1936 consists of a few lines thanking a George Becker for some publicity photos. She also asks that he not use the name Mrs. Putnam in any of the captions, but instead to use Amelia Earhart. She states that she only uses her birth name professionally.

The letter is in fine condition with only a few areas of light soiling, and some deep fold lines.

Amelia was America's homegrown darling when it came to aviation, and the upward mobility she demonstrated in a male dominated career. She was a barrier breaker, and an inspiration for women everywhere to pursue their hobbies, dreams, and ideas. Items that belonged to Amelia or were written by Amelia are always in demand, because her untimely end and short rise to fame allowed for very little material to be produced bearing her name. Her death is still a source of mystery and speculation for those who love her. Ironically one of the quotes that Amelia is known for is this, "Women must pay for everything.... They do get more glory than men for comparable feats. But, also, women get more notoriety when they crash." Luckily, for her and for us, she is loved for more than just the way her fantastic career ended. This letter is a chance to own an item associated with one of the most famous aviatrixes of all time! Do not let this chance fly past you! Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
