    Amelia Earhart: 1928 Flight of the "Friendship". Group of nineteen telegrams, most mounted to 12" x 14" sheets, chronicling the events surrounding the June 17, 1928 journey of Amelia Earhart and the "Friendship" across the Atlantic. Most are signed "Jeffrey" and appear to be from a reporter covering the event for the "New York American" newspaper. Some excerpts: "... Trepassy fliers just gone aboard plane. Leaving at once. Took One hundred twenty gallons extra fuel... they think she is circling off coast... Friendship has radio set call WOX... Earhart boarded plane early said when leaving quote going today in spite of everything...Out of fog Now clear weather A.E...." Also includes a health report from Wales upon the arrival of the plane from Newfoundland, certifying that "there has not been on board during the voyage any infectious disease demanding detention of the Vessel. and that she is free to proceed." An historic group.
