Apollo Contractor General Aerojet Hard Hat Directly from the Personal Collection of Astronaut John Young, Signed. A glass-fiber protective hat, Jackson Safety Cap Type SC-1, made by Jackson Products of Warren, Michigan. There are small "Aerojet General/ General Tire" decals on each side. An interesting "APOLLO" insignia on the front is 2" in diameter, yellow and blue in color, and shows an early Apollo spacecraft design against a lunar background. On the bill is stenciled "Cdr. J. W. Young". Young has signed to the right of the logo: "John W. Young". Aerojet was a major contractor for NASA, responsible for the Gemini-Titan rocket engines and the Service Propulsion System used to place the Apollo Command/Service Module into and out of lunar orbit. Young, of course, flew two missions during each of these programs. Excellent condition.
