Apollo 9 Lunar Module Flown Utility Light Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart, Signed and Certified. A portable light with two incandescent bulbs behind glass lenses, approximately 2.25" x 2.25" x 1.5" in size (not including the mounting bracket and electrical connector). It has a part number of "LDW340 53053-1-1" and a serial number of "SN002". These utility lights were connected to the overhead utility light panel and used in the lunar module to supplement the internal cabin lighting. They were designed to be clamped (see lot following) or hand held. The machined Teflon housing acted as a thermal and electrical insulator. Schweickart has signed on the top surface of this housing: "LM Flown on/ Apollo 9/ Rusty Schweickart". This piece of hardware flown and used in the first lunar module to fly in a manned mission is an important relic of the race to the moon. Excellent condition.
