DescriptionApollo 9 Lunar Module Flown Large Kapton Foil Section Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart, with Signed LOA. An unusually large, odd-shaped section, approximately 7" x 8" overall, several layers thick, of gold-colored Kapton insulation foil. There is a visible printed Part Number "LDW280-53282 17". This was removed from the Lunar Module Spider, the first LM to fly manned and, as such, is very rare. Excellent used condition.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Russell L. Schweickart" on his personal letterhead, stating: "I hereby certify that the Kapton insulation gold foil, LDW 280-5328217, was flown on Apollo 9 and is from the exterior top hatch of the Lunar Module 'Spider'. This item has been part of my personal collection since the mission."
