DescriptionApollo 15 Flown National Flag of the Netherlands Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A 6" x 4.375" cloth Dutch flag that that flew to the moon aboard Apollo 15, the fourth manned lunar landing mission, July 26-August 7, 1971. This tri-color red, white, and blue design was first introduced in 1572. Worden has signed on the lower portion of the white stripe: "Flown to the Moon on Apollo 15 Al Worden CMP". Excellent condition save for some very light dampstaining in the red stripe causing a slight bleed of red into the white of approximately 0.75" long.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Al Worden" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "I hereby certify that this flag from the Netherlands included with this letter went to the moon aboard Apollo 15 in the spacecraft 'ENDEAVOUR'. It remained in the command module during the lunar orbit phase of the flight."
