DescriptionApollo 15 Flown National Flag of South Korea Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A 6.125" x 3.75" cloth South Korean flag that accompanied Dave Scott, Al Worden, and Jim Irwin to the moon on Apollo 15, July 26-August 7, 1971. This flag design, first adopted in 1882, consists of a white field, a red over blue Taegeuk symbol (yin and yang) at center, and black trigrams at the four corners. Worden has signed along the lower edge: "Flown to the Moon on Apollo 15 Al Worden CMP". This is the first space-flown flag of South Korea that Heritage has offered. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Al Worden" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "I hereby certify that this flag from South Korea included with this letter and marked with my signature and flight number went to the moon aboard Apollo 15 in the spacecraft 'ENDEAVOUR'..."
