DescriptionApollo 15 Flown National Flag of Germany Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A 6" x 4" cloth German flag that flew to the moon aboard the Apollo 15 Command Module Endeavour, July 26-August 7, 1971. This flag's design features the national colors of Germany in equal horizontal bands. Worden has written his initials "AMW" on the verso and signed along the front lower edge: "Flown to the Moon on Apollo 15 Al Worden CMP". Typed just above that is: "A.M.W./ A15 PPKFF 155". Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Al Worden" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "I hereby certify that this flag from Germany included with this letter went to the moon aboard Apollo 15 in the spacecraft 'ENDEAVOUR'. It remained in the command module during the lunar orbit phase of the flight."
