DescriptionApollo 15 Flown National Flag of Denmark Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A 6" x 4.25" cloth Danish flag (known as the Dannebrog) that accompanied Dave Scott, Al Worden, and Jim Irwin to the moon aboard Apollo 15 in 1971. This is the oldest flag of an independent nation in the world, first used in 1219 at the Battle of Valdemar. Worden has signed along the lower edge: "Flown to the Moon on Apollo 15 Al Worden CMP". This is the first space-flown flag of Denmark that Heritage has offered. Excellent condition save for light soiling at the far right and some very tiny pin or needle holes at far left.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Al Worden" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "I hereby certify that this flag from Denmark included with this letter and marked with my signature and flight number went to the moon aboard Apollo 15 in the spacecraft 'ENDEAVOUR'..."
