DescriptionApollo 15 Flown Colorado State Flag Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A 6" x 3.75" cloth Colorado flag that flew to the moon, July 26-August 7, 1971, aboard the Apollo 15 Command Module Endeavour. The design, adopted in 1911, features three equal horizontal stripes (blue, white, blue) with an overlaid red circular "C" with the center filled in gold. Worden has signed on the left side of the white stripe: "Flown to the Moon/ on Apollo 15/ Al Worden/ CMP/ Jul 26 - Aug 7, 1971". This is our first offering of a flown Colorado flag. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Al Worden" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "I hereby certify that the state flag of Colorado included with this letter went to the moon aboard Apollo 15 in the spacecraft 'ENDEAVOUR'. It remained in the command module during the lunar orbit phase of the flight."
