Description

A museum-quality archival display in solid walnut.

Apollo 12: Large Vintage Topographical Landing Site Map Signed by Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean. A 31" x 33" (sight size) monocolor molded plastic, 1:2000 scale, high-relief topographical map with the title of "Apollo Site 7" at top; it is captioned at bottom: "Prepared for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration by the U.S. Army Topographic Command. Relief data compiled by Mapping Sciences Laboratory, Manned Spacecraft Center, using photometric methods." Close to the center of the map, near the location marked "Surveyor III" is a large bold signature of this mission's Lunar Module Pilot: "Alan Bean/ Apollo 12". His signature marks the location of man's second landing on the moon in the Lunar Module Intrepid. This map is professionally and archivally framed in a gorgeous solid walnut shadowbox display of 37" x 39" x 2.5" using Acrylite 3. The materials are those used by galleries and museums to preserve the finest in historical memorabilia, which this is. Included is a November 1, 1969-dated 11" x 8" Lunar Surface Exploration Map showing the EVA traverses of Bean and Conrad during their time on the moon. A unique and artistic display worthy of the finest collections. Mounting hardware included. Excellent condition.
