Originally from the collection of Alan Bean.Apollo 12 Flown Silver Robbins Medallion Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean, Serial Number 131, with Signed Letter. This 32mm sterling silver medal was one of 262 flown to the moon aboard Apollo 12, November 14-24, 1969, with crewmembers Conrad, Gordon, and Bean. The obverse of the medal features the mission insignia depicting a clipper ship arriving at the moon (it was an all-Navy crew), trailing fire and flying the U.S. flag. There are four stars in the background, one each for the three astronauts who flew the mission and one for Clifton Williams who was killed on October 5, 1967, during a training flight. He had been assigned to the back-up crew for what would be the Apollo 9 mission and would have most likely been assigned as lunar module pilot for Apollo 12. The reverse has the dates of the mission along with the serial number and the sterling and Robbins hallmarks. This medal was given by Bean to personal friends accompanied by a letter (included). Toned. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is the original letter of transmittal signed "Alan" on NASA letterhead, date-stamped May 6, 1970, stating: "When Pete, Dick and I flew to the moon last November 12, we wanted to take something special for our friends here on earth. We had some special medallions minted and flew them in Yankee Clipper and Intrepid from launch at Cape Kennedy, Florida to the Ocean of Storms on the moon and returned to the middle of the Pacific. I knew that the flight would be one of the most memorable experiences of my life and wanted to share it in some way with you. It was a fantastic experience for all of us, and I hope that this medallion will serve as a reminder of the Apollo 12 flight and our friendship in the future. Warmest personal regards." The letter is stained and tattered. Fair condition.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
HA.com receives more traffic than any other auction house website. (Source: Similarweb.com)
