Description

Apollo 12 Flown Framed Space Treaty Originally from the Alan Bean Family Collection, Signed and Certified by Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean. A 5.5" x 3.25" copy of the "Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies" printed on parchment paper. Bean has signed in the lower right corner: "Flown to the Moon/ Alan L Bean/ Apollo XII/ Nov '69". The treaty is beautifully matted and framed to an overall 9" x 12.25" with a 3.875" embroidered Apollo 12 mission insignia patch (unflown) and an engraved 4" x 0.875" plate with the text: "APOLLO XII/ Sailed aboard Yankee Clipper & Apollo XII to the Moon/ November 14-24, 1969". A handsome and very displayable memento from man's second moon landing mission. Excellent condition.

This treaty forms the basis for international space law. It was opened for signature in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union on January 27, 1967; it entered into force on October 10, 1967. Today, nearly one hundred countries are party to this treaty.
