    Description

Apollo 11 Grumman Apollo Operations Handbook - Lunar Module LM5 And Subsequent, Volume 1 Book. A massive (likely 1000+ pages) 2" thick manual, 8" x 10.5", five-hole punched and contained in a vintage black binder. It is dated "15 December 1968" on the title page with a part number of "LMA790-3-LM5 and Subsequent"; there is a "NASA-KSC Technical Document Control Office Dispatched" date stamp of "Feb 12 1969". LM-5 was the fifth lunar module built by Grumman and the third to fly manned. This is the Subsystems Data manual for the vehicle that became known worldwide as Eagle, the first manned spacecraft to land on the moon with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin aboard. There are literally hundreds of illustrations and tables contained herein, including dozens of foldout schematics and diagrams. There is an alphabetical index and list of abbreviations in the back. For those with a technical interest in this historical mission, this is a special opportunity to own an amazing source of original information. Fine condition with evidence of use, the title page is loose.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
