    Description

"D. B. Cooper" 1971 Ransom Money. Serial #L01842041A. Series 1969 $20 Federal Reserve Note. Certified and encapsulated by PCGS Currency with a custom insert picturing the 1971 artist's sketch of the sunglasses-wearing skyjacker. Found by eight-year-old Brian Ingram along the banks of the Columbia River in Washington on February 10, 1980, this is one of the only known group of currency notes that can be linked to the historic and infamous event.

All the notes from this group were damaged by their exposure to the elements. This present example is approximately 3.25" x 1.5" with a partial Jackson portrait, one nearly complete serial number (and one partial), and the handwritten initials of the FBI agent who originally inventoried the bills soon after Ingram discovered them.

The D. B. Cooper Story (VI):
At 5:24 PM, air traffic control radioed Pilot Scott and told him that Cooper's demands had been met. Cooper then gave Scott permission to land at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport which was accomplished at 5:39 PM. Cooper instructed the pilot to taxi the aircraft to a remote location on the tarmac and to dim the cabin lights. He then instructed that one person be sent with the money and parachutes. An airline employee drove to the plane and made the delivery to a flight attendant, Tina Mucklow, via the aft stairs. Soon thereafter, the 36 other passengers and flight attendant Schaffner were released; the three man flight crew and Mucklow, however, were not allowed to leave.
