    Description

A Magnificent Mint Pair of the Famous 2d Blue

Stanley Gibbons #5 (Scott #2), 1840, 2p Blue. (Original Gum - Hinged). A magnificent mint pair of the famous 2d Blue; the world's second stamp. This scarce pair sports four large well-balanced margins and fabulously deep rich color, with full fresh original gum showing only very light traces of a prior hinging using the large side of the hinge, a few trivial small natural gum skips not mentioned on the certificates, and an inconsequential small natural inclusion above the letter "L" of the left stamp. An overall exceptional example, rare in all respects. Extremely Fine to Superb. 2008 Brandon Certificate and 2008 PF Certificate. (Stanley Gibbons as singles £54,000 / Scott $65,000)...

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
