    Description

AN ABSOLUTELY SUPERB 5¢ PERF 10 ERROR

5c Carmine, Error of Color (467), large, perfectly balanced margins, radiant color and flawless never hinged original gum, a Superb gem. Scott $1,050.

    SMQ $13,900

    Expertization: PSE Encapsulated graded 98

THE MOST AMAZING PERF 10 SINGLE OF THIS POPULAR ERROR WE HAVE EVER SEEN- ONE OF ONLY TWO OF THE PERF. 10 5¢ ERRORS OF COLOR TO BE AWARDED THE GRADE OF SUPERB 98 BY PSE, WITH NONE HIGHER.

One of the most spectacular of printing errors of US issues was the mistaken insertion of the 5¢ design in 3 positions of a 2¢ printing plate. Hence, the small number of 5¢ stamps produced from that plate were red instead of the normal blue. It is the only error of its type in over 160 years of stamp production in the United States. It is seldom offered in true gem quality and this example is in the highest quality obtainable.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
