    Description

    THE HIGHEST GRADED MINT 30¢

30c Orange (38), superlative centering with bright, vibrant color, a fine impression and full original gum; remarkably fresh and Extremely Fine to Superb. Scott $2,400.

    SMQ $10,800

    Expertization: PSE Encapsulated graded 95

A STUNNING MINT SINGLE- ONE OF THE VERY FEW EXTANT WITH THE PERFORATIONS COMPLETELY CLEAR OF THE DESIGN.

As with almost all of the 1857 issue, the 30¢ stamps were very closely spaced on the plate, leaving little room for the perforating machine to navigate. In 40 years, we have seen only 2 or 3 examples where the perforations were absolutely completely clear of the design and one of these was used. This is only the 2nd mint example we have handled that can boast of perforations clear all around. One of five mint singles graded 95, the highest grade awarded by the PSE to date.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
