Description

Two-Cent Pan-American Invert

2c Carmine & Black, Center Inverted (295a), unusually well centered with full original gum; small thin spot and tiny color-in abrasion at upper left, exceptionally fresh, Very Fine appearance.

Scott $55,000

AN EXCEPTIONALLY ATTRACTIVE AND WELL CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THE 2¢ PAN-AMERICAN INVERT.

Expertization: 2009 PSE Certificate graded G-VG 40

The 2¢ is the rarest of the regularly issued Pan-American Inverts with probably no more than 200 being issued. This supposition is based on the fact that two shades of the error exist, meaning that at least two panes of 100 were released in two different post offices, and upon current estimates of the existence of approximately 150 surviving examples including about a half dozen used singles and a mint block.
