Description

Yuri Gagarin Signed Soviet Newspaper with Photograph, four pages, 16.25" x 23.5". The April 13, 1961 issue of "Pravda" with the banner headline "MAN IN SPACE." The smaller headlines: "First Starship Captain is Our Soviet Man!," "Great Victory of Mind and Labor," "World is Applauding/ Yuri Gagarin." Inscribed and dated on his 7.25" x 8.75" photograph, in Russian, to "Mikhailichenko/ Annushka/Gagarin/ 20.4.61." On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space. He signed this newspaper just eight days later! The newspaper edges are slightly frayed and the paper has a mid-horizontal fold and a mid-vertical fold with tears and slight separation. There is also a light horizontal fold passing through Gagarin's eyes, just beneath his bold inscription, not materially affecting the photograph's appearance. The inside pages are also devoted to Gagarin's historic flight. Ideal for framing and display, this would be a magnificent addition to any space collection!
