Description
Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-3) Crew-Signed NASA Color Photo. An 8" x 10" NASA litho print of the two in orange pressure suits posed inside the Shuttle. Signed in black felt tip: "Jack Lousma" and "Gordon Fullerton". Very fine.STS-3, the third Space Shuttle mission conducted by NASA, utilized the Orbiter Columbia and launched on March 22, 1982. The mission's primary objectives were to continue testing the shuttle system's overall performance and to further validate its readiness for operational flights. It featured the first use of the Remote Manipulator System (RMS) and conducted various scientific experiments in the payload bay to study the effects of space on different materials and systems. After completing a successful 8-day mission, STS-3 landed at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico on March 30, 1982, marking the first shuttle landing on a gypsum runway.
