Description

Neil Armstrong Signed White Spacesuit Color Photo [and] Period Mission Commentary Quoting His Famous First Words on the Moon. An 8" x 10" NASA litho print signed in blue felt tip: "To Dane Tan--/ Best Wishes/ Neil Armstrong". Included with the photo is a 27-page (single sided) transcript issued at the time of the mission, from Ground Elapsed Time 108:02 through 109:59. On the page headed "109:20" we find the following transcription:

ARMSTRONG: I'm going to step off the LM now.
ARMSTRONG: That's one small step for man. One giant leap for mankind.
ARMSTRONG: As the - The surface is fine and powdery. I can - I can pick it up loosely with my toe. It does adhere in fine layers like powdered charcoal to the sole and sides of my boots. I only go in a small fraction of an inch. Maybe an eighth of an inch, but I can see the footprints of my boots and the treads in the fine sandy particles.
CAPCOM [Bruce McCandless]: Neil, this is Houston. We're copying.

As can be seen, this is an early transcript as some of the wording is slightly different from later edited versions. These items are enclosed in a custom archival bookshelf folder labeled "First Steps On Moon". Both very fine.
