Description

NASA Original Color Photo of the Lunar Landing Research Facility at Langley Signed by Thirteen Astronauts Including Six Moonwalkers. A 10" x 8" photo with the NASA number "L-67-9107" handwritten on the verso along with "Training Session 1 & 2". It shows the A-frame structure with a suspended LM training mock-up. It has been signed in various inks as follows: "To Genelle--/ & Greg/ Best Wishes/ Rusty/ Schweickart", "James A. McDivitt", "Tom Stafford", "Gordon Cooper", "Ed Mitchell", "Alan Shepard/ 3-4-70", "Jack Schmitt", "Jim Irwin", "Joe Engle/ 3-6-70", "Jerry Carr/ 1970", "Gene Cernan" "Charles Conrad/ Apollo XII", and "Alan Bean". Twenty-four astronauts trained at this facility, which enabled them to be educated in a simulated lunar environment and to practice the piloting skills they would need to land on the surface of the moon. From the collection of a longtime employee of the Langley facility. A rare and uniquely signed photo. Very fine.
