NASA Flight Directors: Collection of Signed Photos. This is a unique and important group of twenty-five signed photos that would be very difficult to assemble from scratch. Please note the incredibly personal and heartfelt inscriptions on these photos. Patnesky was at Mission Control for every flight and became an integral part of these flight teams. The messages reflect their close relationships to a man who shared and documented both the triumphs and the tragedies of the space program. Most of these are 10" x 8" NASA color silk-finish photos.
1 Red Flight. Christopher C. Kraft. "Chris Kraft".
3 White Flight. Eugene F. Kranz. "To Pat:/ We may not be/ beautiful or/ tuned to our/ 'management'/ -but we sure/ know what it/ takes to do/ a job/ Right!!/ Eugene F Kranz". This photo shows Kranz rubbing Patnesky's head for "luck" as he was known to do.
3 White Flight. Eugene F. Kranz. "I believe that we are both becoming Space/ 'Artifacts'- however you are showing your/ age more than I am - at least so far!/ -Thanks Pat for the years we have spent/ writing & recording history/ Eugene F. Kranz". A similar photo to above with Patnesky standing in Mission Control.
3 White Flight. Eugene F. Kranz. "To Pat:/ Your 'candid' camera caught/ many of us at our best....and worst/ Thanks for your support/ to Flight Ops/ Eugene F. Kranz". This is an original "red number" glossy photo (S-71-22052) of Kranz during the Apollo 14 mission, three-hole punched in the margin.
4 Black Flight. Glynn S. Lunney. "To Pat- My favorite photographer/ and good friend/ my thanks for recording so many of our/ moments in the space business. All of us/ are glad that you were with us to share those/ times - and make them a little brighter-/ Keep clicking-/ Glynn-/ S./ Lunney". This is a 1975 photo of an Apollo-Soyuz planning meeting, three-hole punched.
5 Green Flight. Clifford E. Charlesworth (d. 1991). "To Pat/ With warmest regards/ you really did have film/ in the camera!/ Cliff Charlesworth". This is an original "red number" glossy photo (S-67-50421)
6 Gold Flight. Gerald D. Griffin. "To Pat/ With many/ thanks for your/ help over our years of/ friendship/ Gerry". This is an original "red number" glossy photo (S-71-16811) of Griffin during the Apollo 14 mission, three-hole punched in the margin.
8 Orange Flight. M. P. (Pete) Frank (d. 2005). "Pat/ Thanks for all/ the favors you have/ done for me. Your/ smiling face was always/ a welcome sight in Mission Control./ Best Wishes/ Pete Frank". Transcription of inscription attached at lower right, three-hole punched.
9 Purple Flight. Phillip C. Shaffer (d. 2007). "Pat- I truly enjoyed all/ the years of you sneaking/ up on me and me/ pretending you weren't/ there. Your are a/ super troop./ Phil Shaffer".

10 Crimson Flight. Donald R. Puddy (d. 2004). "To Pat,/ The only/ photographer. I know who/ can take a picture/ of the FD at the/ wrong console and/ then turn it into/ a cachet/ Don Puddy". Three-hole punched.
10 Crimson Flight. Donald R. Puddy (d. 2004). "To Pat, A/ guy always welcome/ and one who is a/ friend of all/ flight controllers./ Looking forward/ to working with/ you again during ALT./ Thanks/ Donald R. Puddy". Neil Hutchinson and Charles Lewis are both pictured, but did not sign. Three-hole punched.
10 Crimson Flight. Donald R. Puddy (d. 2004). "Pat/ The message is-/ thanks for you/ efforts in recording/ space history and keeping/ us all smiling. Best wishes/ Don Puddy". A signed note on a Post-It is attached to the verso.
11 Silver Flight. Neil B. Hutchinson. "One of the keen rewards/ of being in FOD is the recognition/ we receive for our Control Center/ activities. You have contributed more to/ that recognition than any other single/ individual I know of. Many thanks from/ the Silver Team & FOD!/ Neil Hutchinson". A 1973 photo, three-hole punched.
12 Bronze Flight. Charles R. Lewis. "Dear Pat,/ Reminiscing our roles in the/ MCC is made easy thanks to you./ Looking at your photos of us bring/ back a lot of memories (we were young once),/ laughs (hair style sure has changed), and/ thoughts of old friends./ Smiling for you/ Chuck Lewis". This is an original "red number" glossy photo (S-69-39535) of Lewis and the Mission Control team during the Apollo 11 mission, three-hole punched in the margin.
12 Bronze Flight. Charles R. Lewis. "Pat/ Keep your lens clean--/ stay healthy-hope/ to see you around/ for a long, long/ time./ Many Thanks!/ Chuck Lewis". Also signed and inscribed by Donald R. Puddy (Crimson) and Neil Hutchinson (Silver). Three-hole punched.

17 Emerald Flight. Jay H. Greene. "To Pat-/ The best/ photographer/ in the MOCK/ with/ appreciation/ for the/ professional/ way of/ getting/ the job/ done/ Jay Greene". Greene was the flight director during the Challenger tragedy in 1986. This photo is of Greene at Mission Control just shortly after he learned "...that Challenger's launch phase was not nominal."
19 Indigo Flight. Lawrence S. Bourgeois. "Pat, for your next 50 years get some/ new cameras. Those look like they've/ been on the road for 300,000 miles/ Larry Bourgeois"
25 Sirius Flight. J. Milton Heflin, Jr. "Pat- You have shot it all! Nobody can ever take that away/ from you. I'm proud to have been photographed by NASA's 'number 1'/ photographer.
