John Glenn Signed Vintage Mercury-Atlas 6 (Friendship 7) NASA "Type One" Photo, Image 62-MA6-25: Checking Out the Capsule He will Ride around the Earth. An 8" x 10" glossy B&W photo of Glenn in full spacesuit and helmet inside Friendship 7 signed in black felt tip: "John Glenn". NASA purple ink caption on verso with a release date of January 21, 1962. Not common. Excellent.John Glenn's MA-6 mission on February 20, 1962, was a significant milestone in the history of space exploration. This mission marked the first crewed American orbital spaceflight. Piloted by astronaut John Glenn, the MA- 6 mission aimed to place a man into Earth orbit, observe his reactions to the space environment, and safely return him to Earth. Glenn's successful orbit around the Earth three times in the Friendship 7 spacecraft for a total of 4 hours, 55 minutes solidified his status as the first American to achieve this feat. This mission was a crucial step in NASA's Project Mercury and played a pivotal role in advancing human space exploration.
