Jack Swigert Signed Color Photograph, 9.5" x 7.5" framed to 11.25" x 9.25". Inscribed "To Joe Garino/ whose wise counsel/ has kept me trim/ Thanks so much/ Jack Swigert." Photo lightly faded. Accompanied by a signed statement by Garino that this photo depicts Swigert and Garino at a Recovery Banquet in Houston. It was Jack Swigert who, after he saw a warning light accompanying the explosion aboard Apollo 13, said, "Houston, we've had a problem here." The banquet honored the Apollo 13 crew and those at NASA who successfully guided the crew back to Earth. Swigert was elected to Congress in 1982 but died a week before he was to be sworn in. From the collection of renowned former physical trainer of the astronauts Joe Garino. This lot is accompanied by a signed certificate of authentication from Garino verifying its provenance.Auction Info
