Description

Apollo 15 Vintage NASA "Red Number" Color Photos (Two), Images AS15-87-11847 & AS15-87-11878: Scientific Experimentation. Two original chromogenic 10" x 8" prints on Kodak fiber-based paper bearing the "A Kodak Paper" watermark on the versos along with attached captions. As follows.
AS15-87-11847: Commander Dave Scott places the Apollo lunar-surface drill on the surface in preparation for adding additional core stems. The rack with core and bore stems is to his right and the solar wind spectrometer is in the foreground; the tapelike ribbons are cables that connect the central station to the individual ALSEP experiments. Excellent.
AS15-87-11878: A panoramic view of Station 8, Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package (ALSEP), and Hill 305. This image was taken during EVA 3. "A" not visible in red number. Excellent. From The Vintage Photo Archive of NASA Engineer Scott H Simpkinson.
