Description

Apollo 11 Vintage NASA "Red Number" Color Photo, Image AS11-44-6642: Eagle During Rendezvous. An original chromogenic 10" x 8" print of the Lunar Module during rendezvous in preparation for docking with the Command Module, on Kodak fiber-based paper bearing the "A Kodak Paper" watermark on the verso. Excellent.

This photo depicts the Apollo 11 Lunar Module ascending from the lunar surface to rejoin the Command/ Service Module (CSM) in lunar orbit. Astronaut Michael Collins remained aboard the CSM while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were exploring the moon. It was taken just before the two modules docked, marking a critical and suspenseful moment in the mission's success. The contrast between the stark, gray lunar landscape and the vibrant blue and white of Earth is stark, emphasizing the otherworldly nature of the moon and the preciousness of our planet.
