Apollo 11 Vintage NASA Color Photo, Image AS11-40-5949:
Aldrin at Experiment Site. An original chromogenic 10" x 8"
print of Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin as he stands near the
complete seismometer on the lunar surface, on Kodak fiber-based
paper bearing the "A Kodak Paper" watermark on the verso. No number
on front, but definitely an original period photo. Excellent.Lunar terrain stretches out under a stark black sky, punctuated by the metallic gleam of the lunar module in the background along with the planted American flag and television camera. It shows Buzz Aldrin, amidst the lunar dust, hard at work. The Laser Ranging Retroreflector has been set up to face the Earth, and the Passive Seismic Experiment Package is being adjusted. The PSEP was placed behind a large rock to shield the experiment from the effects of liftoff. This seismometer was designed to listen for moonquakes and meteor impacts, revealing clues about the moon's internal structure and geological history.
