Apollo 11: Charlie Duke, James Lovell, and Fred Haise Signed Vintage NASA "Type One" Photo, Image S-69-39601: Spacecraft Communicators. A 10" x 8" glossy NASA B&W photo, with purple ink press caption on verso, of CapCom Charlie Duke with James Lovell and Fred Haise during the Apollo 11 mission. Signed by all three: "Charlie Duke", "James Lovell" (felt tip), and "Fred Haise" (ballpoint). Uncommon photo, the first time Heritage has offered this item. Corners bumped, very fine.Charlie Duke, Fred Haise, and James Lovell played instrumental roles in the success of Apollo 11, albeit from behind the scenes. Duke served as the CapCom (Capsule Communicator) for Apollo 11, acting as the crucial voice link between the Earth-bound mission control and the astronauts on the lunar surface, ensuring clear and reliable communication during the mission's critical phases. Fred Haise, as backup LMP, contributed significantly through his extensive participation in the development and testing of lunar module systems, ensuring the primary crew was equipped with a fully functional and reliable craft for their historic landing. James Lovell, having vast experience from previous missions, provided invaluable support as the backup CMP, helping to refine navigational techniques and emergency procedures that would be essential for the mission's success. Together, their expertise and contributions were vital in achieving the monumental feat of the first manned moon landing.
