Description
Apollo 14 Flown State Flag of Arizona Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Edgar Mitchell, Signed and Certified. This 5.75" x 4.5" cloth flag traveled to the moon aboard Apollo 14 with crewmembers Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, and Stuart Roosa, January 31-February 9, 1971. The flag of Arizona was adopted in 1917 and features a copper-colored star, at center, against thirteen alternating red and yellow rays at top and a solid dark blue field at bottom. Dr. Mitchell has signed in silver in the lower blue area: "Flown into Lunar Orbit aboard/ Kittyhawk on Apollo 14 Edgar/ Mitchell". This is the first flown Arizona flag that Heritage has offered, in honor of Spacefest III. Excellent condition.Auction Info
