Apollo 14 Flown MS65 NGC Silver Robbins Medallion, Serial Number 220, Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Alan Shepard, with Rare Signed Letter of Certification. This 35mm x 30mm oval sterling silver medal is one of 303 flown to the moon aboard Apollo 14, January 31-February 9, 1971, with crewmembers Alan Shepard, Stuart Roosa, and Ed Mitchell. The obverse features the mission insignia depicting an Astronaut Pin (a gold pin that NASA gives to astronauts upon completion of their first flight) flying from the Earth to the moon. The reverse features the dates of the launch, moon landing, and return engraved with the crew's full names around along with the sterling and Robbins hallmarks. The serial number is on the rim. A Gem Uncirculated example with almost never-seen provenance from the mission commander.

Included with this lot is a 1996-dated typed and notarized letter reading, in full: "To Whom It May Concern. This is to verify that the accompanying silver medal, the insignia of the flight of Apollo 14, was flown to the moon on board the spacecraft during the time period of January 31 until February 9, 1971. It bears the serial number 220. [signed] Alan Shepard Commander, Apollo 14". Also included is additional information about this COA in the form of an e-mail from Ken Havekotte.
