Description

Owner's manual for the Eagle, volume one.

Apollo 11 Grumman Apollo Operations Handbook - Lunar Module LM5 and Subsequent, Volume 1 Book. A massive (likely 1000+ pages) manual, 8" x 10.5", five-hole punched and contained in a vintage pressboard binder. The part number on the title page is "LMA790-3-LM5 and Subsequent" and the latest date is June 15, 1969. This is Volume 1/ Subsystems Data with the facsimile signatures of W. T. Malloy and W. J. Everett. LM-5 was the fifth lunar module built by Grumman and the third to fly manned. Essentially, this is an owner's manual for the vehicle that became known internationally as Eagle, the first manned spacecraft to land on the moon with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin aboard. There are literally hundreds of illustrations and tables contained herein, along with dozens of foldout schematics and diagrams. Handily, there is an alphabetical index and list of abbreviations in the back. For those with a technical interest in this historical mission, this book is a veritable treasure trove of information. A special opportunity to obtain one of the most desirable documents related to the Apollo program. Heritage previously sold a copy of this book in the April 2010 Space Exploration Auction #6037 for $35,850 (Lot #41099). Please note: the following lot features Volume II of this same handbook. Very fine condition with some light toning and crinkling of the first few pages.
