    12 Gauge Winchester Model 1897 slide action shotgun as retailed by Kirkwood Brothers. Serial no. 181402. 12 gauge. 29 5/8-inch barrel with matted quarter rib with two folding leaves marked 50 and 100. The balance of the full length rib is smooth. with a spear front sight. Barrel marked: Krikwood Brothers, Boston, Mass / Paradox. Choke is rifled with six hemispherical grooves. (Note: The Fosbery rifled choke system used by in the Holland & Holland Paradox used seven ratchet-shaped grooves.). Blued hammer takedown slide action. Half pistolgrip stock of straight grain walnut. Round knob. Replacement grooved fore-end. Winchester hard rubber buttplate. Data: Barrel dimensions:. Bore: 0.741 inches. Choke. 0.021 inches. Chamber: 2 5/8 inches. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 13 1/2 inches.
    Condition: Fine. Barrel shows 50-60% bluing with extensive spotting and a small area of loss. Excellent bright bore. Action shows 60-70% bluing. Stock shows numerous nicks and scratches and some loss of finish. Fore-end shows some nicks and scratches.
