2 Barrel Set, Engraved by Andre Watrin and Louis Vrancken.
Exhibition Grade Cased Belgian Browning Broadway Trap Superposed Over and Under Shotgun Two Barrel Set.Serial no. 39396S5, 12 gauge (2 ¾-inch), with 28-inch barrels and 30-inch barrels, each with wide ventilated ribs and two beads. Featuring a rich dark-blue finish accented with a gold inlayed waterfowl scene on the left side of the receiver with raised gilt ducks and a floral scroll border. The right side of the receiver is similarly decorated but with a game bird scene featuring a covey of raised gilt quail. Lower side of action similarly decorated with floral scroll and raised gilt quail. Lever, breech, trigger guard, and tang with complementary gold floral inlay. Triggerplate engraved A. WATRIN / L. VRANCKEN. Browning company name inlayed in gilt on the left side of the barrel; gauge and Browning information in gilt on the right side. Top of action scalloped and stippled. Gold trigger with scales. Manual tang safety/barrel selector. Ejectors. Beautifully figured walnut stock and fore-end, each finely checkered and with floral scroll carved in relief on either side of the wrist, on the grip pommel, and the borders of the fore-end. Factory Browning recoil pad. Manufactured in 1975. Weight approximately 8 ½-pounds; length of pull 14 ½-inches. Sold in a fitted Browning hard case.
Provenance: Roger and Linda Carpenter Collection.
Condition: Excellent. Retaining 98% finish, with only wear where the fore-end extends to mount to action. This shotgun has been properly maintained and little used. Excellent mechanical condition and with fine, bright bores. The case has some shelf wear but is in very good condition.
