    **Cased 12 Gauge Extra Finish Kell Engraved James Purdey Sidelock Over and Under Shotgun with Two Sets of Barrels. Serial no. 26690. 17332 (action) 21841A (barrels). 12 gauge. Two sets of 28-inch barrels with matted ventilated ribs. Double beads. Extra finish brush bright sidelock with back action locks fully engraved with floral designs with some foliate scroll highlights. Fences with leaves in relief. Engraving by Kell. Cocking indicators. Ejectors. Single non-selective trigger. Non-automatic safety. Rolled triggerguard engraved with foliate scroll with floral highlights and numbered 21841A. Very finely checkered pistolgrip stock of highly figured walnut. Drop points. Horn grip cap. 5/8-inch leather covered recoil pad. Vacant gold oval. Very finely checkered enlarged fore-end with Anson-style release. Maker's brown leather motor case with leather corner protectors and brass hardware. Maker's black leather label. Maroon baize interior. Leather straps. Note: The maker has provided the following information on the gun: "The gun's real number is 26690 and the other numbers would have been put on at the customer's request. Completed in April 1958 for Mr. E. M. Vafiadis. 28-inch barrels, 2 3/4 inch chambers, chokes no. 1 barrels bottom 60% top 70% no. 2 barrels bottom 70% top 80%. Large fore-end. Single trigger. Non automatic safety. Beaded edge to guard. Stock length 14 5/8 inches mid., pistol grip. Leather covered pad. Gold oval engraved E. M. Vafiadis World Champion Rome 1956. The gun was restocked in November 1961 for Mr. A. K . Sedki. New gold oval fitted. Extra Finish Large Scroll Engraving by Kell the leading engraver at the time. Original weight of gun 7 pounds 11 1/2- ounces".

    Condition: Excellent, as lightly refreshed. 1st set of barrels show 96-98% blued finish with most losses under the fore-end. Excellent bright bores with slight streaking in front of chambers. 2nd set of barrels show 96-98% blued finish with most losses under the fore-end. Excellent bright bores with slight streaking in front of chambers. Action number restamped. Stock shows refreshed finish and checkering with a few light marks. Oval shows some scuffing. Fore-end shows refreshed finish and checkering and some light marks and impressions. Case in fine condition with some light scuffing and marks. Interior shows some wear and impressions.

    Note: From a "Guns" magazine article in 1957 "Carried from the field by cheering fans, veteran live-bird marksman, Emanuel Vafiadis of Egypt triumphantly held aloft the 25th straight pigeon which crowned him world's champion flyer shot at the 20th annual match. Vafiadis scored 25 straight to win over almost 300 other shooters from a dozen nations to gain the title."
