    Cased & Engraved J. Purdey & Sons Double Barrel Shotgun.
    Serial no. 26604 [receiver, barrels and fore-end], 12-gauge [2 3/4-inches], 28-inch barrels with ventilated rib and front bead sight. Rib marked: J. PURDEY & SONS / AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND. Blued finish barrels, lever and triggerguard. Case-hardened receiver, each side marked: J. PURDEY & SONS. Elaborately scroll and floral engraved receiver, triggerguard, lever, upper tang and fore-end metal. Finely checkered walnut pistolgrip stock and splinter fore-end. H. ALLEN inlaid to base of stock, accented in gilt. Leather wrapped hard rubber buttplate. Length of pull: 15-inches. Weight: 7 pounds, 1 1/2-ounces. Boring of barrels: Right 1/4 choke and Left 3/4 choke. Contained in original canvas wrapped carrying case with purple felt lining and James Purdey & Sons label. Wood cleaning rod also included.

    Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 94-96% with scattered scuffs, scratches and fine patches of pitting. Vibrant case colors. Minor scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Bright bores. Noticeable storage wear to carrying case.
