*12 Gauge James Purdey Sidelock Ejector Double Barrel Shotgun. Serial no. 26678. 12 gauge. 28-inch barrels with a matted raised rib. Brush bright Beesley patent sidelock action engraved with fine foliate scroll and bouquets. Ejectors. Cocking indicators. Automatic safety. Disc-set strikers. Beaded fences. Brush bright finish to triggerguard and fore-end iron and furniture. Very finely checkered straight grip replacement stock of well figured walnut. Note: The maker indicates that the gun was restocked by them. Drop points. Vacant silver oval. Very finely checkered splinter fore-end with Anson-style release. Note: Gun was paired with no. 27202 in this sale.Data: Barrel Dimensions: Bores 0.734/0.735 inches, Chokes: 0.005/0.016 inches (Cylinder/Modified), Chamber: 3 inches. Minimum wall thickness: 0.024 inches Proof: London Nitro, .729, .729. 3 tons. 2 ½ . Note: Barrels are out of proof due to lengthened chambers. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 15 ½ inches. Drop at comb: 1 ½ inches. Drop at heel:1 7/8 inches. Cast-off: 1/8 inches Weight: 6 pounds 7 ounces.
Condition: Fine. Barrels show 96-98% bluing with wear at muzzles and losses under the fore-end. ½ inch scratch on underside of right barrel. Bottom rib shows a small hole due to corrosion. Excellent bright bores with a few very light marks. Action/barrels show slight looseness. Stock shows a number of light marks and a few nicks and impressions. Fore-end shows a few light marks.
