    Description

William McKinley: Perhaps the Most Sought After of All Color Political Lithography from this "Golden Era". Heritage offered an example of this rare poster in our May 2010 auction, where it fetched a record price of $17,850. On occasion, the notoriety accompanying such a record-setting offering will draw another example out of hiding. That is not the case here, however. This poster is from the estate of the late Geary Vlk. While we have been auctioning the buttons from his outstanding collection for some time, a small group of non-button material was only recently delivered to us, including this wonderful poster. Condition is basically excellent, with crisp untrimmed edges. Color is very strong. The poster was long stored quarter-folded, and so there are fine crease lines which are barely noticeable because of the busy design. There has been some deterioration on the center crease near each edge, and just a bit at the center. Proper linen backing, and perhaps just the tiniest bit of in-painting, would result in a brilliant, near-mint display appearance. However, for the vast majority of hobbyists, this poster will display beautifully just as it is. 28.5" x 41.5".
