DescriptionWilliam Henry Harrison: Satirical Inauguration Ball Broadside. 9" x 22.5" broadside titled "Grand Tippecanoe Ball! For the 4th of March, 1841." Followed by, "Tickets Five Dollars Each. One Ticket to Admit one HE and two SHE Tippecanoes." There is a section missing at the bottom, so we don't know if the date and location of the celebration was declared. Given the content of the broadside (quite sarcastic), we suspect this was issued for "entertainment" purposes only, for whatever political effect it could produce. There are references to Nicholas Biddle, the United States Bank, office seekers, etc. As an example, the order of the banquet is "Pious speculators, virtuous cheats, respectable swindlers, bankrupt merchants and broken lawyers." Mounted to board long ago with areas of loss, as shown.
