    Description

William Henry Harrison: Pro-Harrison Newspaper with Wonderful Content and Graphics. October 31, 1840 issue of Thurlow Weed's Albany Evening Journal. We draw your attention to the second page which has some great woodcuts, including "Free Trade and Sailors' Rights," the Log Cabin & Cider Barrel advertising Harrison's commitment to serve no more than a single term in office (he kept his promise, and then some!), testimonials from the Founding Fathers, an 1839 gold eagle advocating gold over paper currency, a $50 shinplaster note, and "suspicious" advice given to Van Buren by his notable supporters. For those interested in Hard Times and monetary policy, this is a most suitable display artifact. Two sheets, separated at spine.
