Ulysses S. Grant: Two Purported Personal Artifacts, Including a Cigar, Grant's Trademark. A section of black cloth, approximately 8" x 9", said to be from the shroud on Grant's funeral bier, nicely custom-framed with an unsmoked stogie. Also in the frame are period notes identifying these items as Grant's, and donating them to a G.A.R. post. The note accompanying the fabric is signed by one Norman L. Dill, of which it is only confirmed that he served in a N.Y. unit during the Civil War and was wounded at Chancellorsville. Framed together with two vintage Grant photos, one a cabinet photo and the other a copy image of a Civil War scene in which Grant smokes a cigar, and an 1885 silk Grant mourning ribbon. An attractive display unit measuring 32" x 15". Ex-collection Robert White.
