John Quincy Adams: Desirable Number One Medal. This rare, white metal campaign medal is DeWitt JQA-1828-1. It measures 45 mm. across and was, according to the fine research of Charles McSorley, produced in England for export to America in the presidential contest of 1828. Anticipating the election, it states: "His Excellency John Quincy Adams President of the United States of America 1828". A matching piece was issued for Jackson. This example grades Extremely Fine. It has little to no wear with two rim bruises. It has toned to a dark gray and displays very nicely. 1828 is considered the first "modern" election with extensive use of campaign paraphernalia.
