    Description

JOHN F. KENNEDY "APPRECIATION" MEDAL, 1962. Rochette K-62-1. 44.5mm. Bronze. Frank Gasparro, Sc. (U.S. Mint) We do not recall having encountered this medal previously. Rochette comments that the President had 300 struck. This example appeared in the Guernsey's May 2005 auction (lot 311). The 44 mm high relief medal is accompanied by a most unusual rubber mold for the medal, used to create a real wax version (included). Presumably the medal was given to or by Kennedy staffers.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
