    George Washington: Centennial Medal and Badge. Medal measures 4 1/2" in diameter. Designed by Augustus Saint Gaudens, medal commemorates the April 13, 1889 centennial celebration of George Washington as the first president of the United States. Medal bears a low relief silhouette of George Washington on one side with a bald eagle with inscription on reverse. Excellent condition. Detailed badge depicts the act of "Laying the corner stone of the capitol" and bears the date September 18, 1893. Measures 2 1/4" x 4 1/2". Despite minor fraying and discoloration, ribbon colors remain vibrant. Stately and attractive display pieces.
