Thomas Jefferson: Rare Contemporary Liverpool Jug in Massive 9.75" Size. A portrait of Jefferson accurately portraying his age as president, surrounded by vines intertwined with the names of the States. "Thomas Jefferson President of the United States of America" on scroll above. Below the pouring spout are the initials of the owner. This is often found on Liverpool jugs, as many were custom ordered by the user or as gifts. A color-tinted sailing vessel with bold red and blue American flag graces the reverse side. Very few display items of any kind date from Jefferson's Presidency. This one is in very choice condition and with its imposing size (probably at least twice the volume of the standard examples) stands out even in this rare category.
