    Description

Theodore Roosevelt: Sought-after 1916 Progressive 1 ¼" Pinback. A bold red, white, and blue design first used for 1912 issues, it reappeared on a handful of 1916 hopeful buttons. Theodore Roosevelt entertained thoughts of another presidential run that year. The Progressives scheduled their convention at the same time as the Republicans, hoping to engineer a joint nomination for Roosevelt by both parties. But when the GOP nominated Charles Evens Hughes, Roosevelt declined the Progressive nomination and supported Hughes. Most Progressives did the same, and the Bull Moose Party effectively faded from the scene. This 1916 dated button has been a top priority for many advanced Roosevelt, Third Party, and Hopeful collectors and is in great condition.
