Zachary Taylor: Vibrant Silk Scarf. Old Rough and Ready is the central figure on this 24" x 28" silk scarf or bandanna. He appears beneath a semi-circle of thirteen stars and within a wreath listing seven of his Mexican War battlefield victories. His facsimile signature appears below his portrait: "Z. Taylor Genl. U. S. A." Printed in red and brown, the border consists of a repeating pattern. It is unlisted in "Threads of History". The colors are truly vibrant with no fading or stains whatsoever. It is quite delicate, though, and the border has fraying and loss as shown. Properly framed , it will constitute a wonderful display piece.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
