William Henry Harrison: A Beautiful, Colorful 1840 Silk Campaign "Ohio Farmer" Scarf. Listed in Threads of History as no. 126 (p. 99), Harrison is seen greeting a disabled veteran at the cabin door, while another person draws a cup of hard cider for the guest. The scene depicts a log cabin at North Bend, Ohio, where Harrison was born-an image much more appealing to the voting public that the mansion where the candidate resided that election year. To our taste, this is one of the loveliest of 19th century political textiles. Very rare, with just a small handful surviving.

Although there are imperfections, the scarf has been professionally mounted at great expense and displays beautifully. Minor roughness on right edge, a piece missing at upper right corner, two small holes near the top and scattered partial separations, none of which affect the central image. Expensively custom-framed to 25" x 32".
