    Description

    U. S. Flags: Circa 1845 27-Star Flag. Very rare 47" x 28.5" cotton flag with 27 stars in the canton, arranged in a "Great Medallion" pattern. There were 27 states in the Union for a brief period of nine months. Three whipped grommets with original attachment cords in place. All hand-stitched with stars on both sides of the canton. Light to moderate fading of the red stripes. Old repair/replacement panel measuring 12" in length, positioned on the 6th stripe down, towards the right. Light aging with scattered light stains. We have been unable to locate any auction sales for 27-star flags.
